5th & 6th Class – May/June Fortnightly Plan
This resource is a fully planned fortnightly scheme designed for 5th & 6th Class, themed around Summer & Holidays. The plan is structured, engaging, and accessible, with clear routines, differentiation, and optional supports to cater for a range of learning needs, including SEN.
The fortnightly plan is linked to the Irish Primary Curriculum and is cross-curricular, using Summer & Holidays as a meaningful theme across literacy, numeracy, SESE, and SPHE. Activities explore more complex topics such as tourism, travel and transport, weather and climate, environmental awareness, water safety, world geography, holiday budgeting, and cultural traditions around the world, while developing subject-specific vocabulary, comprehension, and research skills.
Tasks are designed to promote independence, critical thinking, and deeper learning, with opportunities for research, persuasive and report writing, investigations, data handling, group work, debates, and project-based learning. Clear instructions and scaffolded supports are included where needed to ensure accessibility and reduce cognitive load.
