5th & 6th Class – May Fortnightly Plan

This resource is a fully planned fortnightly scheme designed for 5th & 6th class, themed around Minibeasts. The plan is structured, engaging, and accessible, with clear routines, differentiation, and optional supports to cater for a range of learning needs, including SEN.

The fortnightly plan is linked to the Irish Primary Curriculum and is cross-curricular, using Minibeasts as a meaningful theme across literacy, numeracy, SESE, and SPHE. Activities explore more complex concepts such as classification systems, life cycles, ecosystems, biodiversity, and the environmental importance of minibeasts, while developing subject-specific vocabulary, comprehension, and research skills.

Tasks are designed to promote independence, critical thinking, and deeper learning, with opportunities for research, written reports, investigations, data handling, group work, and project-based learning. Clear instructions and scaffolded supports are included where needed to ensure accessibility and reduce cognitive load.

Curriculum Links:
Aligned with the Irish Primary Curriculum (5th & 6th Class), with links to Upper Key Stage 2 (UK) and Grade 5–6 (USA).

✨ Ideal for mainstream and SEN settings, supporting deeper exploration of minibeasts through structured, engaging, and curriculum-aligned learning.
