Infant Autism Class – May/June Fortnightly Plan
This resource is a fully planned fortnightly scheme designed specifically for Junior & Senior Infant autism classes, themed around Summer & Holidays. The plan is highly structured, visual, play-based, and accessible, with predictable routines, simple language, and clear supports to help young learners feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage.
The fortnightly plan is linked to the Irish Primary Curriculum and is cross-curricular, using Summer & Holidays as an engaging and meaningful theme across early literacy, numeracy, SESE, SPHE, and sensory play. Activities gently explore summer weather, beach and holiday items, travel, summer clothing, ice cream, sunshine, water play, and outdoor experiences in a developmentally appropriate and supportive way.
Tasks are carefully designed to minimise overwhelm, reduce cognitive load, and provide multiple ways for children to participate, including visual supports, hands-on exploration, sorting and matching activities, movement, music, sensory play, and structured choice.
