🐞 Minibeast Theme 🐝
Infant Autism Class – May Fortnightly Plan
This resource is a fully planned fortnightly scheme designed specifically for Junior & Senior Infant autism classes, themed around Minibeasts. The plan is highly structured, visual, play-based, and accessible, with predictable routines, simple language, and clear supports to help young learners feel safe, regulated, and ready to engage.
The fortnightly plan is linked to the Irish Primary Curriculum and is cross-curricular, using Minibeasts as an engaging and meaningful theme across early literacy, numeracy, SESE, SPHE, and sensory play. Activities gently explore different minibeasts (e.g. bees, ladybirds, butterflies, worms), their homes, simple life cycles, and caring for living things, in a developmentally appropriate and supportive way.
Tasks are carefully designed to minimise overwhelm, reduce cognitive load, and provide multiple ways for children to participate, including visual supports, hands-on exploration, sorting and matching activities, movement, music, sensory play, and structured choice.
